Job Description

AA Euro Group have been retained by a leading UK Construction Company looking to recruit a Environmental Manager for the project based in Central London. This is a full-time permanent position. You will be responsible for providing the project with sustainability and environmental leadership including driving innovation and best practice into project delivery and raising and maintaining environmental awareness of colleagues and supply chain in meeting their environmental responsibilities and requirements . The person will be accountable for implementing and ensuring compliance with Environmental Minimum Requirements. Key Responsibilities: – Assist in producing, maintaining & ensuring compliance of the Environmental Management Plans including the identification of significant environmental aspects and impacts. – Ensure compliance with Environmental Minimum Requirements. – Support Environmental Management Review and risk & opportunity assessment processes. – Attend regular meetings and support the construction team in management of environmental risk. – Identify possible operational risks or opportunities and work with central HSQE Team to ensure an appropriate and effective response. -Carry out or contribute to incidents and complaints investigations, ensuring the comprehensive gathering of supporting evidence material. – Site supervision to monitor and record environmental performance and compliance undertaking regular site inspections and audits of construction sites and supply chain operations. – Review of method statements and other technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to contractual and legal requirements. – Participate in and support training to project members and subcontractors and other initiatives to facilitate consistent standards and spread best practice. – Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental and sustainable responsibilities. Requirements: €¢ Strong communication skills in English (oral and written) can communicate confidently with a range of people, adapting communication style to have a positive impact. €¢ Computer literate €“ well developed IT skills including use of MS Office (excel, word). €¢ Good knowledge and practical experience of developing, implementing and improving Environmental Management Systems compliant with ISO14001:2015 €¢ Excellent knowledge and practical experience of environmental legal requirements and how to comply with them including archaeology, air quality, noise and vibration, surface and groundwater, contaminated land, waste, ecology and built heritage. €¢ Skilled in questioning and investigating to identify immediate, root or systematic facets of situations and root causes. Behavioural competencies €¢ Health and safety – Takes safety of stakeholders, employees, self, suppliers and the public seriously. Understands own and others€™ role in emergency situations and minimises risk. €¢ Sustainability -The individual fully understands the relevance of sustainability to them and to the business and the main aspects we are committed to achieving with regard to economic development, social enrichment and environmental protection. €¢ Equality, diversity and inclusion – understands, respects and meets the needs of our diverse workforce and clients.
