Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Stopper to join our team. The Fire Stopper will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and maintaining fire stopping systems in various commercial and residential buildings. The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Fire Protection and possess a strong understanding of fire safety regulations and procedures. Key Responsibilities: 1. Installation of Fire Stopping Systems: Install fire stopping materials such as fire-resistant sealants, boards, and barriers to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through penetrations and joints in buildings. 2. Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of existing fire stopping systems to ensure they are intact and functioning properly. Perform maintenance and repairs as necessary to maintain compliance with fire safety regulations. 3. Compliance: Ensure all fire stopping work is carried out in compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards, including those set by local authorities and regulatory bodies. 4. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of fire stopping installations, inspections, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports as required by regulatory authorities or clients. 5. Collaboration: Coordinate with other construction professionals, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure fire stopping systems are integrated effectively into building designs and construction projects. 6. Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to other team members or contractors on fire stopping techniques, materials, and best practices. Qualifications and Skills: 1. NVQ Level 2 qualification in Fire Protection or equivalent certification. 2. Previous experience working as a Fire Stopper or in a related field such as construction, building services, or fire safety. 3. Strong knowledge of fire stopping materials, techniques, and best practices. 4. Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to fire safety and building construction. 5. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently. 6. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. 7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 8. Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
