We are delighted to be working with a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and a contemporary outlook for a Maintenance Engineer (Plumbing & Mechanical) to join their In House Estates team on either a permanent or temporary to permanent basis.  Our client is ranked as a global top institution for performing arts and is a vibrant and wonderful organisation to work for. This is a permanent role which may start temp to perm and we are looking for someone wanting a long term career within Building Services Maintenance. This role is based in Kensington.  Within this Static Maintenance Engineer (Plumbing biased) role you will have a multitude of duties weighted towards plumbing and mechanical maintenance, these tasks include:  To carry out the routine checking of supplies and services, plumbing and small mechanical works.  Carrying out periodic checks to mechanical and general plant systems, reporting daily to the Maintenance Manager. To carry out the routine checking of supplies and services, small lighting and power as well as distribution and control systems.  Carrying out periodic checks to emergency lighting and general plant systems, reporting daily to the Maintenance Manager Together with the M & E contractor and the Maintenance Manager oversee the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) plan. To be the M & E contractor€™s contact on site, supervising and ensuring that servicing takes place efficiently and appropriately. Carry out general maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager. Carry out small refurbishment installation projects and general maintenance, decoration projects and supervise other maintenance team members during these projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager. To carry out reactive tasks as raised on the CAFM system. Carry out electrical updating works and general rewiring as required across the site to support other project works. Carry out general maintenance tasks with other maintenance team members including working at height (once trained)  To work across different buildings and sites To assist the Health and Safety Manager to carryout H&S and Statutory Audits Assist the Facilities Team when required which may mean undertaking general Facilities Officers task Assist the Estates & Technical Services Manager with representing the maintenance team at all relevant Courtyard Project meetings, providing advice, reviewing specifications, life cycle and maintenance plans. Assist the Estates & Technical Services Manager with the management of estates and maintenance projects to ensure all building works and refurbishments are enacted according to regulations and statutory legislation and are completed within agreed budgets. Liaise with staff, contractors and H&S to ensure concurrent works around the site do not give rise to conflicts or unsafe conditions. This is a varied role in a rewarding environment where performing your work safely is of the upmost importance. For this static maintenance role you will work on a rota basis with the hours 8-4 Monday – Friday and 1 week in every 3, 12-8 Monday to Friday on the late shift. You will work the odd Saturday where you would then get the Monday off the following week.  For this static plumbing maintenance role we are looking for: A level 2 NVQ / City and Guilds qualification within Plumbing  Strong building services maintenance experience of plumbing and a broad spectrum of maintenance tasks Experience of BMS systems and maintaining air handling units Strong experience in building regulations including L8, DDA, COSHH, Asbestos, CDM regulations, ACOP€™s etc. Health and safety awareness, the IOSH is highly desirable A team player, happy to be helpful across all trades where necessary, and someone looking for a long term role in an in house estates team This is a brilliant role within the public sector for a leading University where you will be developed by a great Manager, and where you will enjoy working in prestigious buildings for a world recognised organisation.  This role is has a vast benefits package as well as a great starting salary, this role is offering: Salary: £36,850 (hourly rate equivalent will be offered if the role starts on a temp to perm basis) Salary increases every year to the top of the banding  30 days holiday, plus bank holidays on top Season ticket loan Professional development USS pension (15% employer contribution) Please do apply now for this new maintenance plumbing role!
