Safety Engineer wanted for rolling contract working for Luxury Automotive OEM based in Wolverhampton Job title: Safety Engineer Location: Wolverhampton Engine Plant Duration: 6 Months (rolling) Hourly rate: £29.63 p/h (inside IR35) umbrella Position Description: The Opportunity This role will have the accountability for Competent Safety advice to our team of Process Engineers within the Powertrain function. The work will involve all aspects of departmental safety, such as Accident Investigations, reporting, and presentations to senior leadership. Support the Manufacturing Process Engineers in the concept, design, installation, commissioning and robust handover of complex production systems, to ensure compliance with the ‘Supply of Machinery’, ‘Provision and Use of Work Equipment’ Regulations, and ensuring compliance to UKCA / CE requirements. The role also works within the Construction Design and Management Regulations to ensure robust safety standard during the installation phased are robustly adhered. There will be a need to interface with a number of internal and external stakeholders, including all aspects of Health and Safety, Project Managers, Contractors and all relevant departments to deliver our Zero Harm approach. This role is a key position in the delivery of GME’s core works, and covers the full spectrum of Safety within the delivery of complex production systems. The role also includes the need for vendor visits and witness trips nationally and overseas as the programme defines. Skills Required: NEBOSH, H&S Law including CDM Regulations. Machinery / equipment H&S Construction / Pre-Construction H&S Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Safety support of Process Engineers, supporting and coaching of Design Risk Assessments, and providing Competent Safety advise where requested. Drive a ‘Zero Harm’ approach to safety in our designs and contractor performance. Undertake any other work as directed by the GME Infrastructure Manager in connection with their job as may be requested. Key Interactions: The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Process Team he ME Design teams, supporting the Principal Designers activities, and safety advice. JLR Corporate Safety to ensure alignment of standards. External suppliers, providing competent and challenging advice. Experience Required: Core experience in Machinery Safety, Design and Commissioning of complex production systems Core Machinery Safety awareness, i.e Certified Machinery Safety Expert. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent. Experience and knowledge of ISO Standards and Directives (Specifically Design Risk Assessment – ISO 12100) Experienced in CE/UKCA Legislation We are seeking a rounded experienced multiskilled Safety practitioner. Min 2 years’ experience in a similar support role.
